FAQ: Buying Tickets and Getting There

Where do you play?

  • The Manchester Phoenix plays its home games at the Altair Altrincham Ice Dome.

When do you play?

When do doors open? What can I do before the game?

  • Doors open 1 hour before the published face-off time.
  • The WhiteMagic shop and the Phoenix merchandise desk are located inside the Dome once the doors have opened.
  • The teams have a 20-minute warm-up session on the ice starting at around 40-minutes before face-off.
  • The Dome has hot food outlets and food and drink vending machines.
  • Our plasma screens show player interviews and other information before the game.

How long does the game last?

  • An ice hockey match is one hour of playing time, plus two 15-minute intervals. The clock is stopped at every break in play, though, so a full match takes between 2 and 2½ hours to complete.

How do I get to the dome?

  • We’re right next to the metrolink station, or easily accessible by car or other public transport. Details and maps are here.

Where do I park?

  • There is parking immediately outside the dome, though this is likely to fill on a match night. This is pay-and-display, though is currently free of charge on Sundays.
  • There are additional car parks and on-street parking around the Ice Dome
  • . Please do NOT park in the 2-hour leisure-centre reserved spaces, in the station car park next to the Dome, in Tesco’s car park, or inappropriately in disabled or unmarked spaces. The car parks are all patrolled regularly.

How do I buy tickets?

When can I buy tickets?

  • Website sales close at noon on the weekday before the game (Friday noon for Sunday games).
  • Telephone bookings can be taken at the Phoenix office during office hours (9am-5pm Monday-Friday).
  • Cheque purchases must be received at the Phoenix office 5 working days before the match.
  • The Dome box office is open during public skating times.

Are there any discounts?

Are there any booking fees?

  • For website sales we pass on the paypal fee.
  • All bookings made through the office incur a £1 booking fee. There is an additional 4% charge for credit cards.
  • The Ice Dome charges a booking fee – currently £1 per credit or debit card transaction. Cheques are not accepted at the Ice Dome.

Is the seating reserved / numbered?

  • Blocks 1,2,17,18 are allocated to away supporters as unreserved seating.
  • Block 7 & 15 are allocated to sponsors, guests, staff, and Gold seasno tocket holders.
  • Season ticket seats are marked, and reserved for ALL games.
  • The remaining seating is unreserved.

What do ‘concession’ and ‘junior’ mean?

  • Concession tickets are available to OAPs, registered disabled and students.
  • Junior tickets are available to those aged 5-15 years (inclusive) on the day of the match.
  • Children under the age of 5 are admitted for free.
  • Proof of age or concession status will be required for each junior or concession ticket purchased.
