FAQ: On Matchnight

Why can’t the general public use the VIP Lounge on game nights?

  • Before and during the games the VIP lounge is reserved for our sponsors, guests, and specially invited season-ticket holders. The lounge is open after the match, and one or two Phoenix players will often join supporters to chat, relax and sign autographs.

Can I skate before the game?

  • The Ice Dome generally runs public skating sessions before ice hockey matches. For further information contact the Ice Dome, not the Phoenix office.

Can I join the cheerleading squad?

  • The Phoenix cheerleaders are run by Claire Hinds. She can be contacted on 07739508484, or see their website at www.phoenixcheer.co.uk

How do I get selected for one of the Menace’s interval games?

  • The menace usually selects his victims participants before the game. If you would like to join in, ask one of the stewards to direct you to the Menace’s helper, Ben Haddock.

How to I become a steward / sell tickets / help behind the scenes?

  • We are always looking out for more help! Please contact Mags at the office, or at the ticket tables by the White Magic shop during an interval on a match night.

What’s that tune you sing when the team is on a powerplay kill?

  • It’s the theme tune to “The Great Escape”

Who’s the bloke with the drum?

  • The ‘choirboys’ like to sing. The drum helps to keep them in rhythm, but more importantly drowns them out a little.

Can I bring a drum / trumpet / bagpipes to spur the team on?

  • Possibly, but please contact the office first so we can take into account any safety issues. We might not allow bagpipes.

What do I do if I catch a puck during play?

  • Please do not attempt to catch a puck. They travel very fast, and can cause injuries. If, however, a stray puck lands near your seat during play, then it’s yours to keep. Do not attempt to return it to the ice!

Where do we collect our photographs if we have been on the ice for any reason?

  • You will usually be able to collect photographs and pucks from the programme desk to the left of the front exit the week after you have been on the ice.

How do I get you to mention a birthday?

  • We cannot guarantee that there will be a suitable break in play to announce your birthday. However, we’ll try. There’s a request slip available at the ticket desk by the White Magic shop, to be completed by the second interval.
