Metros get singed in their final game

This was the final game of the season for both teams. Having recently escaped from the drop danger zone Coventry was very keen to continue their revival and get both points to squeak over Sheffield Spartans into sixth place. The Mets, however, were aware that whilst they had won the first encounter of the season, the Blaze had won both games in Coventry and wanted to even things up. Injuries and prior engagements meant that several senior players were missing from the line-up. Also, the influential Sean Day was making his debut with the Phoenix at Swindon, consequently coaches Bayliss and Cassidy were forced ring yet another set of changes to the offensive lines. It's the final game of the season for Trafford Metros this Saturday at the Ice Dome, so come and cheer the lads on - it's your last chance! Stars or Warriors? Title in doubt 'til the end

With three games left for both last weekend's opposition teams, the Billingham Stars topped the league by three points from Whitley Warriors. Results between these two meant that they should they finish equal on points, the Stars would be champions for 2011 -12. The stage was set for some tense progress reporting around the rinks in Altrincham, Sheffield, Whitley Bay and in Billingham! Read more

Second period costs Mets the game

Telford came to the Dome on the back of a hot run of form which started just before Christmas: they had been beaten just once in thirteen games. Whilst their fourth place in the league was no longer under threat from the Metros, two points would give them an admittedly slender chance of overhauling Blackburn for third. In the event the Metros couldn't find an answer to the experience and skill of the Karol Jets plus Ashley and Ryan Stanton: at least one of them was involved in every Telford goal. Read more
