Metros proud to support the Children's Adventure Farm Trust

Wednesday, 30th September 2009

This coming Saturday October 3rd will see a very special presentation ahead of the Trafford Metros vs Nottingham English National League game at the Altrincham Ice Rink.

Over the course of two special games held in June and August, the newly re-formed Trafford Metros Ice Hockey squad raised over £1,000 in aid of the Children's Adventure Farm Trust based in Millington near Knutsford.

June saw the now annual Paul Fox Memorial Game played between the Metros and the Bradford Bulldogs in memory of Paul Fox who had strong associations with both clubs prior to his untimely death, aged just 39. Then in August, a game between the Metros and former Altrincham Legends proved enormously popular and further contributed to the fund-raising effort.

On Saturday, Paula Murray - representing the Metros - will present Jenny O'Hare, the Sports Challenges Co-ordinator for the CAFT with a cheque for £1,053.

Ian Rogerson speaking on behalf of the Metros commented, "The Trafford Metros are proud to be able to be associated with such a wonderful cause as the Children's Adventure Farm Trust in Millington. The work that they do for underprivileged and disadvantaged kids in the area is an inspiration to all of us. Tribute has to be paid to the ice hockey fans who turned out in their hundreds to support both the games. Without them none of this would have been possible.

"Personally, I found it very moving and humbling to be on the ice for the children's Shoot The Puck session at the Legends game. The enthusiasm shown by the children was just great. I had a superb time for those few minutes and am looking forward to welcoming CAFT folk back to games in the Ice Dome."

Saturday's English National League game is a 5.15pm face-off at the Altrincham Ice Rink on Oakfield Road.
