Trafford Metros' netminder Declan Ryan is celebrating his call up to the Great Britain U-18 team.
This coming April Declan will be part of the GB team heading for the IIHF World Under 18s championships. Great Britain will play in Group B of Division 1, with matches held in Krynica, Poland, where they'll face Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan and Lithuania as well as their Polish hosts.
Declan has recently taken his place back between the pipes in Altrincham after several seasons across the Pennines following the demise of the Devonshire Road rink. Despite being on the wrong side of the hills, he's been no stranger to success. Declan has played for the English National team at four age levels and was starting netminder for both Nottingham U-16s in 2008 and Sheffield U-18s in 2009 in the finals that crowned them national champions.
Everyone at Phoenix club congratulates Declan on his step up to the GB team and we wish him the best of luck.
