Trafford Metros 3 Telford Titans 2
Metros started the night with a quest of remaining undefeated at the top of the table, but knew this encounter was going to be a stern test for them to overcome. The two teams have history between them and promised to be a tasty game.
The First Period didn’t start well for the Metros they went down 1-0 just after the 1 minute mark. But the lads rallied and the rest of the period saw total dominance from the Metros they racked up a missive 16 shots compared to the Titans 5, but it wasn’t till the 12th minute mark when the Titans were a man down the Metros finally replied to the Titans first marker, Jamie Rogerson tucked home a close in shot with the assist going to Josh Ward. The scores remained level till the end of the period so we went into the break 1-1 but the Metros were defiantly in charge of the game.
The second period saw no more scoring but again the Metros massed up a huge 17 shots on the Titans net and all credit to Ben Hunt in the Pipes for the Titans he stopped everything the Metros could throw at him since the Titans just couldn’t seem to find their feet in front of the Trafford goal.
The Third saw both go at it for the win but it was the Titans who struck first in the 45th minute, but the Metros fired straight back in the 47th minute with a beautiful team passing move, every player on the Metros side touched the puck before but the final strike came from a long pass from Robyn Crebbin deep in the Trafford zone to Josh Ward on the blue line who took it into the zone and off loaded to Ciaran Long Who slotted the puck home from just below the hash marks. This goal ignited the fire in the Metros stomach and they pushed on and again out shot the Titans 17 to 7 but it wasn’t till the final minute when Josh ward combined with Oliie Bayne and Mark Etherington to fire home the game winning goal.
Yet again the lads gelled well and worked hard as a team to squeeze this result out against a well organised Telford side who had a MVP performance from their net minder who faced 50 shots and only let in 3. 100% record still intact and a big well done to the Metros.
Scoring: Josh Ward 1+2, Ciaran Long 1+0, Jamie Rogerson 1+0, Robyn Crebbin 0+1, Ollie Bayne 0+1, Marc Etherington 0+1
