Telford Titans 0 Trafford Metros 4

The Metros travelled down the M6 for this clash with the Titans with one goal in mind, to overcome them in their own barn. Earlier this season the Metros Travelled to Telford with an extremely short bench to come back with no points when they lost 4-2. This time the lads were determined to correct that error so with a full roster they set about their task and once again they proved with guts and determination and a true team spirit they can overcome their foe.

The first period was a chippy encounter with the metros showing no fluidity and not being able to string a pass together on the break out but their defence held firm and so did Paul Maudsley in the Metros net who on this evening wasn’t going to be outshone by his team mate Tom McDonald who posted a shut out the game before against the Blackburn Hawks, would Paul be successful in his own quest? We’ll find out by the end of this report. Back to the action, late in the period saw the Metros go on the power play thanks to Mr. Roden’s stupidity he took a 2+10 penalty for checking to the head and then decided he didn’t like the call and was going to chirp at the referee who in turn blew his whistle and slammed his hand on his hips to give him a second 10 minute and he would see no further action in the game and sulked off to his changing room. The Metros and Titan went into the break goalless, both teams traded some serious blows but weren’t able to penetrate each other’s defences.

After some stern words in the dressing room from coach Bayliss the metros went back to their quest and it didn’t take them long to register their first marker, after 20 second into the second Ollie Bayne fired home on the power play from close in with the assists going to Jake Nurse and Max Drakeley. This game saw the Titans being constantly in trouble with the referee and it was once again on the power play when the Metros found the twine again, this time Tom Revesz getting his first marker of the season close in again and the assist accredited to Jamie Rogerson. Yet again it seems like the Titans just don’t learn and this time Mr. Stanton decided he didn’t like the referee and started arguing with him for him also to be tossed out of the game for abuse, let’s put it this way the Titans thought they could bring their old game of intimidation upon the Metros when everyone know this season our boys will not be intimidated by anyone, and they proved this 2 minutes later with some grit the Metros strung some passes together on the breakout and on the end of it was Joe Greaves to register the 3rd goal for the metros, assist going to Jamie Rogerson and Tom Revesz. The Second ended 3-0 to the Metros and Paul was still to be beaten.

The Third was a close and tense affair but yet again the Titans still thought they could intimidated the Metros and took needless penalties throughout the period which made the 3rd relatively easy for the Metros although they didn’t register the 4th till 12 second from the end of the game when Andy Dunn scored his first for the club with assists going to Jamie Rogerson and Simon Mills. So to answer our question of would Paul get his Shut out? Of course he did and he was deserving of him Man of the Match he kept everything out much to Telford annoyance, well done Paul. But yet again this was a team effort and as everyone knows in the league to come out of the Telford ice rink with a win let alone back to back shut outs is nothing short of amazing but once again the Metros lads this year are turning heads and proving they are a force to be reckoned with!
