Trafford Metros face a tough return to action this weekend in their first matches of the New Year. Saturday's road trip to Coventry is followed by a Sunday home game against Whitley Warriors and Mets will be determined to grind out the best results they can despite a severe manpower shortage. For the Blaze fixture, the team will be missing regular netminder Paul Maudsley who is completing a ban served on him as a result of a fracas in the last Coventry match. Meanwhile, forwards Jamie Rogerson, John Murray and Ben Brown are all ruled out for both of the weekend's games. As a result, it will be a very different looking Metros side with re-arranged lines that faces Blaze. Games between the teams have gone one apiece so far and both will be keen to get the edge as they head into the busiest part of the season.
An even bigger challenge follows on Sunday when Whitley Warriors roll up to the Altrincham Ice Dome. Warriors currently lie second in the league and Sunday's game will mark the first meeting between the teams this season. It's sure to be a stern test and Metros will need every ounce of determination and resolve they can muster to keep the marauding Warriors at bay. As always, you can help. Plenty of noisy home support makes all the difference, and Mets really need you to be there to get right behind the team. See what you can do! Face off on Sunday is at 5.15pm
