Phoenix 08-09 - thank you

Tuesday, 31st March 2009

The organisation would like to thank you all for the many, many emails and calls to the office of thanks and support of the team both on and off the ice, one of which is below.

Andy, Mags, Tony, Neil et al:

So, where to start...?

From a fans point of view this last 12 months has been an absolute privelige to be a part of.

Tony Hand (the best player never to play in the NHL) assembled the best Phoenix team ever to play in a league where the odds are firmly stacked against the lower 6.

A team that epitomised fair play, who believed in winning on the ice rather than bending the rules behind the scenes.

I am so proud to have been a phoenix fan this season, so proud of the team, so proud of the organisation.

This was the year when against the odds we reached 2 (out of 2) cup finals and the quarter finals of the playoffs.

A year when unrealistic schedules finally took their toll as the EIHL gods smiled down benignly from their ivory towers, (if we can't beat them fairly and squarely then reschedule as many of their games as possible for the last few weeks, that will grind them down!)

To all the team: Thank you so much.
Thank you for playing at 150% right until the last minute of every game this season. I am proud of everyone of you. You have worn the Phoenix shirt with honour. I would like to see every member of the squad back next year but am realistic enough to know that you guys have got to make big decisions about your futures. If you get big buck offers and take them well good luck to you, thank you for being a part of the Phoenix story.

To all the volunteers: Thank you so much.
You are the backbone of the club. Thank you for your tireless and at times thankless efforts.

To the match night crew: Thank you so much.
Thank you for taking the show up a notch, in particular the pre game audience chat - well done Aiden.

To everyone behind the scenes: Thank you so much.
Thank you for bringing order out of chaos. How Mags seems to know every fan by name is beyond me.

To the web site crew: Thank you so much.
Thank you for supporting and providing a platform for the people who often have nothing to say but need to say it anyway. Over the coming months you will provide a lifeline for a group off fans desperate for any tit bit of information.

To Neil and Andy: Thank you so much.
I guess we are lucky that your dreams mirror our dreams.
