Black(burn) Hawk(s) Down – U10s v Blackburn

Wednesday, 25th April 2012

The Phoenix U10’s had their first encounter of the season with Blackburn last weekend and no one knew what to expect.

What they got was a goal fest from the Phoenix as the young guns pounded the Blackburn goal time and time again coming out winners 21 – 0.

The game wasn’t all one way traffic though and Harry Brown, in goal, was called into action on several occasions to keep yet another clean sheet. His counter part in the Blackburn goal had a busy afternoon and despite the score line made numerous excellent saves.

Behind the overwhelming score line there were excellent individual efforts and a great display by the whole of the 2nd and 3rd third lines. The 2nd line helped themselves to 14 of the 21 goals. Huge credit also goes to the 1st line that provided the platform for the 2nd line to open up and play so enthusiastically.

Pierce Thomson both bagged himself five goals earning him MVP.

Coach Gary was away in Canada and the team laid on a display which would have made him proud.

The seasons is coming to an end with just two more games remaining; one at Flintshire and a return trip to Blackburn in May.
