Manchester Phoenix are proud to announce that new junior and youth sections, under the banner of Manchester Phoenix Junior Ice Hockey Club, have been officially affiliated to the English Ice Hockey Association.
At their AGM on Saturday, the EIHA formally welcomed Manchester Phoenix junior and youth teams as the newest additions to their league structure.
Everything is now in place for teams at all age groups from Under-19 downwards to join the league and commence competitive play. Phoenix Junior teams will play in the 'North' divisions and in the Autumn, our top players will be eligible to trial for the Northern Conference select squads.
With trials dates set for Saturday June 17th and July 1st and a tremendous response received already by the club, the Phoenix are very confident of being in a position to ice teams in at least three age groups for the coming season.
A club spokesperson commented, “This is a great day for the Phoenix organisation, and we hope a tremendous boost to the hopes of youngsters in the area wanting to play ice hockey. A lot of people have stepped up to the plate and put in a tremendous amount of work in the past few weeks to achieve this goal of EIHA affiliation and we are extremely grateful to all concerned. Our head coach Tony Hand will be attending the first trials to meet the prospective junior coaches and so it’s full steam ahead for our Junior Development programme.”
