Phoenix Under-14s just two points from promotion playoffs

Wednesday, 25th April 2007

The Manchester Phoenix Under-14 team are just two points from a confirmed place in the post-season promotion playoffs, and still have two home games this coming weekend in which to achieve their goal.

This coming Saturday sees the Phoenix Under-14s take on the league-leading and, as yet, unbeaten Whitley Bay in what promises to be a mouth-watering encounter. The Phoenix have won their last six games after only their second loss of the season on March 4th, away to Whitley Bay. Then on Sunday, it's the final game of the regular season and a local derby with Blackburn the visitors to the Altrincham Ice Dome.

A Phoenix spokesperson noted, "Whitley Bay are the best team in the division as their unbeaten record testifies. Since we lost up there, the team have bounced back in fine style and they are really looking forward to Saturday. They need just two points to assure themselves of a place in the promotion playoffs at the first time of asking and they want to win those points on Saturday."

Saturday's game against Whitley Bay faces off at 4.40pm while Sunday's clash with Blackburn is a 6.30pm start - entrance to both games is free, with programmes and raffle prize tickets on sale.
