Phoenix Under-16s gain promotion!
Manchester Phoenix Under-16s squad that finished in second place in the Northern League 2 this season have been promoted to play in League 1 next season.
This seasons League 2 champions, Solihull, have advised the English Ice Hockey Association that they will not be taking up the automatic promotion for season 2007/08 and the EIHA immediately offered the place to the Phoenix.
A spokesperson for the Under-16s commented, “we were a little surprised to hear of the Solihull decision not to advance. However, we are keen to take out team forward into the higher league and this promotion in our first season is a tremendous achievement for everyone concerned with the squad.”
Phoenix are still awaiting confirmation of the dates and opposition for the Under-14s promotion playoff games.
