The Manchester Phoenix Junior club has released final details of its forthcoming trials and taster sessions for the new season.
(birth years 1996 onwards)
The club will not be holding formal trials for these ages, but welcomes players who are keen to learn and play the game to join our new squads.
All you need are reasonable skating skills (the rinks' Learn to Skate course is available if you need to start from scratch).
If you'd like to join up we'll be pleased to see you at a series of taster sessions over the coming weeks. All sessions are £7 each.
Turn up at least half an hour before the session.
Minimum kit required is helmet, gloves, skates and stick.
If you have more, please wear it. A limited amount of loan kit is available.
Session times:
Tuesday 29th May. 6.30 - 7.15pm.
Thursday 31st May. 7.30 - 8.15pm
Saturday 2nd June. 4.30 - 5.30pm
Tuesday 5th June. 6.30 - 7.15pm
Thursday 7th June. 7.30 - 8.15pm
Trial times:
U-14s: (Birth years 1994 & 1995)
Tues 22nd May 7.30pm - 8.50pm
Thurs 24th May 7.30pm - 8.50pm
Sat 26th May 4.30pm - 5.50pm
U-16s: (Birth years 1992 & 1993)
Tues 22nd May 9.10pm - 10.30pm
Thurs 24th May 9.10pm - 10.30pm
Sat 26th May 6.10pm - 7.30pm
Please note that both these age groups have now been given extra ice time, resulting in these slight changes from previously published times.
Players should come to as many of our three trials as possible, but we appreciate you may not be able to make all three.
Please arrive at the rink at least 45 minutes before your ice slot.
Existing club members should wear their white match shirt to trials.
As a non-member, you can wear a shirt of your choice, but if you have a shirt with your name on, please wear it. The club will allocate you a loan shirt if necessary.
For non club members there will be an ice time fee of £7 per session.
We also require a £25 returnable deposit from each non-member to cover all the trials.
This has been made necessary to prevent visiting players using trials as practice ice time.
The deposit will be returned in full after the trials except in the case of players who do not take up the offer of a squad place.
We are aware that proposals are to be made at the EIHA's AGM on June 9th which may affect the U-14 and U-16 age groups. As a result, we will not announce final squad selections until after the AGM in order that we are in line with the rules for next season.
Trials for U19s have been delayed until after the EIHA AGM - see separate story.
