Phoenix Juniors gain Northern Conference trials call-ups

The progress being made by the Manchester Phoenix Junior Ice Hockey has been further rewarded with no fewer than nine Phoenix youngsters being selected to trial for the Northern Conference.

Defenceman Scott Robson and forward Joe Armstead will represent the Phoenix at the Under-13 squad trials while defenceman Guy Boryczko, from the Phoenix Under-18 squad, and forward Tom Hammond from the Under-16 A team will trial in the Under-17s' grouping.

But, it's at the Under-15 level that Phoenix are most heavily represented with netminder Bob Browne being accompanied by four forwards - Jordan Bannon, Jared Dickinson, Shannon Lingwood and Bobby Streetly.

Robson and Armstead attended their trials held in Ice Sheffield last week, while the Under-15s' attend this coming Saturday and the Under-17s' also in Sheffield on October 20th.

A Phoenix spokesperson commented, "we're delighted for all our players who have been selected and naturally, we wish them every luck in their trials. The numbers are very encouraging as it's an indication that we're on the right lines in terms of developing our youngsters for the future."
