Phoenix U18s 12 - 0 Solihull Knights

The last game of January for the phoenix Under-18 squad turned into a stroll as after a slow start, they found their shooting sticks and ran out easy winners. Dominating the game from start to finish, it was a major surprise that at the first break the home side only enjoyed a one-goal advantage. Whatever was said in the first interval in the locker room certainly worked as the second period was even more emphatically one-sided as the Phoenix ran in six more goals to end the game as any kind of a contest. The final period saw the beleaguered Knights mange just two shots on Phoenix netminder Jorge El Hage who finished the evening with a 16-shot shutout on his debut game for the Under-18s having stepped up from the Under-16 squad.

Phoenix certainly spread the goals around the roster with both Jordan Bannon and Ollie Bayne notching hat-tricks and no less than ten players registering either goals or assists in a totally comprehensive performance. Coming a week after the team had recorded an excellent victory on the road in Whitley Bay, beating the Geordie side 3-2 at the intimidating Hillheads Rink, the Phoenix Under-18s can look forward to the remainder of the season in good heart.
