Manchester Phoenix and their army of supporters got the news they've been waiting for all week on Thursday evening as netminder Scott Fankhouser confirmed he's good to go for the weekend.
Fankhouser injured a knee in a 6-2 loss to the Belfast Giants back on January 19th, and he's missed three games as a result while undergoing daily physiotherapy. Last week saw him return to skating and Thursday saw him back between the pipes in full training.
"It felt good, no adverse reaction at all," beamed Fankhouser. "I'm still getting physio on it each evening and things have gone really well. When it first happened, I feared I could be out for up to six weeks, but the treatment I've received has been excellent and I'm ready to play at the weekend."
Phoenix travel to Basingstoke on Saturday before hosting the Edinburgh Capitals on Sunday in a 5.30pm face-off in the Silver Blades Ice Dome in Altrincham.
A club spokesperson commented, "we've all had fingers crossed that Scott would be able to play and we're delighted with the news. Tony Hand and Adam Walker fly back in on Friday from their trip to France with the Great Britain national team, so with the exception of Omar Ennaffati away with Team Hungary, we'll be at full strength for the weekend."
