Phoenix cavalry is on the way...

Friday, 5th September 2008

With the opening games of the new bmibaby Elite League season just a day away, Manchester Phoenix are pulling out all the stops to get reinforcements into the weekend line-up.

Entering the week, Phoenix were still four players – Bruce Mulherin, Luke Fulghum, Kenton Smith and Kyle Bruce - outstanding awaiting entry visa clearance into the UK. The club have been busy all week and the good news is that one, possibly two of the players could be in the line-up on Saturday when the team take on the Hull Stingrays on Humberside.

A club spokesperson commented, “we got great news on Wednesday that Bruce Mulherin had received his visa and we moved as quickly as possible to get him a flight booked. Bruce is expected to arrive in Manchester in time for Friday mornings training session and is already cleared through the league to play at the weekend.”

“And the news got even better on Thursday as Kyle Bruce confirmed receipt of his visa too,” continued the spokesperson. “We had to move very quickly to secure flights for Kyle and his wife, but the good news is that they too will leave on Friday and are expected into Manchester on Saturday morning.”

“We’ve been in touch with Kyle and suggested he get as much sleep as possible on the flight as whilst he’ll play on Sunday against the Vipers, if there’s any chance of him playing some of the game in Hull on Saturday, it would help the team enormously having another body in the line-up.”
