The off-ice report

Wednesday, 25th May 2005
Hot on the heels of last week's revelation that Belfast Giants wouldn't be retaining Tony Hand in the coaching spot, Elite League newcomers Edinburgh Capitals have confirmed that Hand will be returning to the Caps to head up the bench for the forthcoming season.  Hand took the Belfast Giants to second place in the EIHL last season, and has previously served at Edinburgh, taking the Caps to third place in the 2003-2004 BNL season.

The General Manager of the Caps, Scott Neil, is pleased to see the former Caps legend return home.  "It is great to have Tony come back this coming season," says Neil.  "He did great work for us before and I believe that he can do a job for us in our first season in the Elite League."

Elsewhere it's been a quiet week for signings in the Elite League, with no new arrivals and only departures to report.

Nottingham Panthers appear to be without the services of Marek Ivan for the forthcoming season, with the Czech player listed as having signed for Slovakian team Ducla Trencin.  Also listed as leaving the Panthers is Russian player Mikhail Nemirovsky, who is reportedly on his way to ESC Dresden in Germany.

Sheffield Steelers are keen to stress that Daryl Andrews hasn't officially left the club at this time, despite reports that he has accepted the offer of a training camp spot with Pelicans Lahti in Finland being interpreted by some as a move away from the Elite League club.
