Ladislav Harabin completes Phoenix roster

Friday, 3rd September 2010

Manchester Phoenix have completed their roster for the new season with the signing of Slovakian defenceman Ladislav Harabin, and player-coach Tony Hand predicts he will be a sensation in the English Premier League.

The 29-year-old has a reputation for hitting hard and scoring goals and will arrive in Altrincham next Wednesday when Phoenix report back for duty.

"He will be one of the premier players in this league there is no doubt about it," said Hand.

"He competes, he's aggressive, he hits like a truck and he scores goals. He's a very talented player and the fans will love him.

He's played in the Slovakian Elite League for the last few years. Not many players from our league are good enough to play at that level and he scored 18 goals from about 30 games last year."

Harabin was tipped for the NHL as a teenager yet his dream never materialised but after playing in his native league for several years has decided to spread his wings.

Phoenix begin the season with competing in the war of the roses against Sheffield Steeldogs - in Yorkshire on Friday September 10 (7.30pm) and in Altrincham on Sunday September 12 (5.30pm). The question is will the phoenix come out of the traps quick enough to hang on to the silver rose bowl that is bestowed upon the winners of the 2 legs.
