Worrall joins Freeze on Phoenix two-way deal

Tuesday, 7th October 2003

Manchester Phoenix forward Brian Worrall is joining English National League side Flintshire Freeze on a two-way contract deal.

Selected at the summer trails, the 20-year old former Altrincham Aces player has been with the Phoenix since July, training and playing a limited role with the Elite League team.

Phoenix head coach Rick Brebant advised, “Brian needs to be playing more, but right now is not quite ready for the Elite League. We need to be fair to both him and the club and so we asked Flintshire if they would agree to him joining them on a two-way deal and they agreed.”

Worrall will continue to train with the Phoenix and will play regular games for the Freeze with the caveat that in the event his services are required for the Elite League club, he can be brought up to play.

Brebant added, “I truly feel that in his best interests, a regular game with the Freeze and continuing to train with the Phoenix is the best course of action and he understands and agrees with me. The Freeze will benefit and so will we if and when we need to call him up – he will be match fit. Right now, he’s only enjoyed limited ice time and that’s probably not fair on him. I want to stress that we have not cut or released Brian from our roster, he remains a Phoenix player but on a two-way contract with the Flintshire Freeze.”
