Milton Keynes Lightning 5 - 2 Manchester Phoenix

Phoenix fell to their first defeat of the season as MK Lightning eased to a 5-2 win.

Phoenix missing Long and El Hage.

2.38 Phoenix go one down as Lightning break down centre ice and score through their captain Adam Carr. 2-0 on 8.42 with a blaster from Zatopek. Phoenix nearly pulled one back as Harabin shot wide with five minutes left in the period. Phoenix finish the stronger but go in two goals down.

8.38 gone in the second and Phoenix lose a third goal scored by Emersic. With just under half of the period gone Phoenix hit penalty trouble as first Hand went on a 10 minute misconduct and then Cingel on a mystery 2 minute penalty. 4.44 left and Phoenix pulled one back through Tom Duggan. 2.07 left in the period and Zatopek blasted his second goal of the night high left of Fone. The period ended with Lightning 4-1 up and Phoenix with it all to do.

With 8 minutes left on the clock Ben Wood was hauled down going in on goal and the same player scored the resulting penalty shot to make it 4-2 to the home side. With just over 7 minutes left Lightning restored their 3 goal lead with a second of the night for Carr. MK saw out the remainder of the game for a 5-2 win.

Phoenix take on Swindon Wildcats on Sunday at the Ice Dome with a 5.30 face off.
