Dogs dispatched, now for the Cats

Thursday, 2nd February 2012

J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix are at home to the Swindon Wildcats on Sunday, face off 1730hrs.

The teams have only met twice so far this season and each have a home win. The Cats are having a much better season than last and have a very potent offence.

The forwards will need watching closely as the ex Bees duo of Michal Pinc and Jaroslav Cesky, affectionately known around the league as Pinky and Perky, have 95 points between them and top forward Jonas Hoog ably complements them with 44 points of his own.

The acquisition of Dean Skinns as cover for the injured Tom Murdy has proved a shrewd move by the coaching duo of Ryan Aldridge and Pete Russell.

Swindon have lost their last three games, including a double loss last weekend against the Sheffield Steeldogs but will have to be taken seriously if Phoenix are to keep the points at the Dome.

Phoenix will be keen to extend their 6 game winning home streak and the battle between Martin Cingel and Juraj Faith to be team’s top scorer should see another exciting barn burner at the Dome.

Coach Hand said of the weekend’s games: “Every weekend is tough this season and down in Milton Keynes will be no exception. They have not had the best of times recently and we have had some good results against them, but Nick Poole has a good side down there and we are expecting a tough game. Swindon have had a few bad results but they have a lot of fire-power up front that we will need to keep an eye on. However, we are playing well and are looking for points to keep pressure on the teams above us.”

Get along to the Dome on Sunday evening and watch Manchester’s fastest and most exciting sports team, your very own Manchester Phoenix.
