BBC presenter takes on the Puck Shoot Challenge

Wednesday, 29th February 2012

With Sport Relief just around the corner, the Manchester Phoenix get a visit this weekend from BBC Radio Manchester’s Ian Cheeseman to have a go at our Puck Shoot Challenge and raise some awareness for the upcoming fun-packed fundraiser. We’ll let Ian explain what he’s up to, in his own words!

I’m Ian Cheeseman, I’m a presenter and sports commentator for BBC Radio Manchester and during the last few years I’ve undertaken a couple of challenges “Cheesey’s Challenges” to support Sport Relief. In 2008 I ran 30 miles around BBC Radio Manchester’s four Premier League Clubs – two years ago I cycled 90 miles around our nine football league clubs, on a tandem, with cyclist Barney Storey. This year I’m trying to encourage people to take part in the Sport relief mile on Sunday 25th March by trying different sporting challenges at various sporting events, I’ve already done the cross bar challenge at football, the first being Manchester City, and there are challenges scheduled at Rugby Union, Rugby League, Netball, and Ice Hockey to name but a few! I’m hoping that those watching my (no-doubt amateur) attempts will think, “I can do better than that”, and be inspired to go to the Sportrelief.com website and register for a run in late March.

Please give me a cheer as I undertake my challenge today, and don’t laugh too much if I muck it up!

I’m also looking for people to run with me on the day, if you’re interesting contact me ian.cheeseman@bbc.co.uk – don’t worry, I’m a jogger, so you’ll have no problem running with me!
