The 'Weight-Bench' claims a victory!

Friday, 9th March 2012

The annual All-Star Challenge evening saw the Manchester Phoenix and the Trafford Metros mixing and matching their rosters for the traditional two periods of hockey and the Skills Competitions which would separate the men from... well... the other men!

With Team Phoenix taking a commanding lead after the first period of hockey, it fell to Team Metros to put in a strong performance in the Skills competitions. The evening saw players competing in speed-skating, accurate shooting, fastest shot and penalty shoot-out contests, with the netminders taking on the netminders, the defencemen taking on the defencemen, and the forwards doing pretty much whatever they wanted.

After the second period of hockey, the scores were perfectly tied, so it came down to the decision of the supporters as to which team had the better goal celebration: Team Phoenix's 'on the loo' celebration, or Team Metros' 'weight-bench'. The crowds chose, and Team Metros were declared the winners!
