Phantoms Ghost into Town

Wednesday, 7th November 2012

J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix take on the Peterborough Phantoms in a Saturday evening home game this weekend with a 1900hrs face off.

Free-scoring Phoenix will be out to continue their fantastic home form with an eighth win in a row. After putting the Steeldogs to the sword last weekend with a superb 9-1 win, they welcome Peterborough Phantoms to the Dome. Peterborough are having an inconsistent season but certainly have the talent to upset any team in the league on any given day. Testament to that was their overtime win last week against Phoenix, coming back from two goals down in the late stages of the game to take the points.

At the back, Damian King has been given the starting job in net and has proved a capable goalie. Injuries have brought problems for thePhantoms with Joe Graham out injured and tough guy Jozef Sladok’s hand injury curtailing his enforcer duties in recent games. However they are a dangerous team up front with Tom Carlon and Luke Ferrara having excellent seasons so far. Add the experience of Jeff Glowa and Maris Ziedins and you can see where their goals are coming from. But that is not all. Ondrej Lauko is really finding the form hehas already shown in the EPL with 100 goals for Basingstoke and 28 in a part season with Peterborough last year. He is certainly one to watch.

Phoenix, on the other hand are on fire, and will be looking to hold on to their top of the table placing with another home win. Goals are coming from everywhere on the team and confidence is high in the locker room. The team will be missing player coach Tony Hand this week. He is out in Japan with the GB squad as they strive to make the next round of Olympic Qualification. Bench duties will be taken over by the senior players in the squad and they, too, will be keen to have the points in the bag when coach Hand comes back on Monday.

Talking of Olympics, we have a treat for you at this weekend’s game with a Sledge Hockey demonstration in the first period break. The new Manchester Phoenix Sledge Hockey team boast several members of the GB squad and they, along with other squad players, will be on ice to show the faithful the ins and outs of a fantastic version of the beautiful game.

The Dome is normally the place to be on Sunday nights. This week make it a Saturday date to shout, scream and roar your very own Manchester Phoenix to another home win in their quest to regain the EPL title.

You know you want to.
