Wildcats and Phantoms next up for Phoenix

Friday, 27th September 2013

J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix travel to Wiltshire on Saturday to take on Swindon Wildcats as they look to continue their excellent start to the season.

Swindon have certainly improved their squad with the signing of Stevie Lyle as starting netminder. The Welshman is still regarded as one of the best netminders in the country. Top scorer Jonas Hoog has signed for another year and, with Finnish forwards Juha Silvander and Henri Sandvik on the top line, they will once again have some fearsome firepower on the top line. Swindon are always a hard team to beat on their own ice and Phoenix will have to be at their best to bring the points back up north.

On Sunday, the Peterborough Phantoms ghost into town. They, too, have significantly improved their squad but have yet to secure their first win after two narrow defeats last weekend. Thomas Murdy has joined as their starting netminder and with Marcel Petran solid in defence they have upgraded in that department. Nicky Watt has joined to add some grit and toughness and Jaroslav Cesky and Brit veteran Marc Levers have also boosted their squad.

Phoenix have made a dream start to the campaign and the team have gelled pretty quickly. With confidence high they will be confident of keeping the good run of results going.

Manchester Phoenix v Peterborough Phantoms Sunday 29th September at the Altrincham Ice Dome face off 1730hrs.
