Phoenix faithful back the club

Friday, 1st May 2015

The 2014/15 campaign finished on a high when Manchester reached the British Challenge Cup final and play-off final, albeit with a depleted team due to a torrid season of injuries.

But following the previous year’s title success, hopes are still high that Tony Hand can build a side capable of bringing silverware back to the North West. And Phoenix bosses have been swamped with applications for season tickets, as fans put their faith in a renewed push for honours.

“To have so many of the Phoenix faithful put their trust in us by purchasing season tickets is wonderful,” said owner Neil Morris.

“It has been a difficult summer and there is no point in pretending otherwise. But with the help of those supporters who have stuck with us, we can take this club back to where it belongs. Having hundreds of fans buy their season tickets, even at this early stage, is just the start of that process. We are taking orders for the existing seating arrangements as we expect them to be very similar. The supporters who buy season tickets now will get first set of the seats wherever we play. We have also said that we will allow them to change these positions once they have visited the new building.

“We were so unlucky not to pick up at least one trophy last season and Tony Hand has been talking to some great players. The guys he has lined up will be a real statement of intent to the rest of the league.

“In 2003, I asked the fans to have faith, and we got there in the end. The people of this club are brutally honest sometimes, but they all have the Phoenix at their hearts. That is what I think is truly important.”

The announcement that the club is planning to build a 3,000-seater arena in Manchester city centre has brought with it renewed interest from fans.

Morris added: “I am so excited about the plans we have for both next season and beyond. I have said all along that we need to plan for every eventuality and we are doing just that. Our supporters have shown their backing, and are willing to join us on a journey to a place we can all call home. That’s what happened when The Ice Dome was built and it is happening again now."
