Telford to host re-arranged game

Sunday, 28th February 2016

Telford Ice Rink will play host to Manchester Phoenix’s rearranged English Premier League game against Telford Tigers on Wednesday March 9th.

The match has been switched from Deeside Ice Rink, the venue for Manchester’s home games this season, due to a lack of available ice time.

League rules mean the EPL encounter will be classed as a home game for the Phoenix – despite it taking place at the Shropshire rink.

Neil Morris, owner of Manchester Phoenix, said: “When this game was postponed on December 27th, because of an early close at Deeside Ice Rink, we started searching for a suitable date and time straight away.

“It quickly became clear that Deeside would be unavailable to accommodate the fixture, so it was a case of making sure that we fulfilled our commitments to the league elsewhere.

“The people at Telford Tigers, and Telford Ice Rink, have been fantastic in clearing their schedules and making time for the game to be played.

“I am looking forward to a great game of ice hockey – and hopefully a home win for Manchester Phoenix!”

Manchester Phoenix season ticket holders will be entitled to free admission, as it is a home game, while Telford Tigers season ticket holders qualify for a reduced rate of just £10.

Otherwise, normal admission rates of £12.50 per person will apply, with concessions of £6.

Paul Thomason, General Manager of Telford Tigers, said: “When Neil asked for our help in putting this game on, we were more than happy to help.

“We understand that a busy rink like Deeside may be unable to offer ice time, so it is essential that our clubs continue to work together in this manner.

“Telford Tigers and Manchester Phoenix have always enjoyed a very special relationship, and we want that to continue. It will be an interesting night for everyone!”

The game, will face-off at 7.30pm.
