Friday, 9th September 2016

Manchester Phoenix coach Tony Hand has completed his imports with the signing of 27 year old Marek Indra.

Indra, born in Prague, stands 6ft tall and weighs in at 84kg/185lbs. He is a natural right winger who played his junior hockey for Slavia Prague.

His first regular season at Under 18 was in 2004 and he progressed into the Under 20 side at his home club. During that time, up until the end of the 2006-07 season, he also represented the Czech Republic at Under 17 and Under 18 levels. He moved to Sarnia Sting in the Ontario Hockey League in 2007 before returning to KLH Chomutov Under 20 side. He made 4 appearances for the Chomutov senior side during 2008-09 and 219 appearances for SK Kadan in the Czech second division. He also made 3 appearances in the Czech Republic Under 20 side.

His career from then until 2015 was spent in the Czech second division with Kadan, Dukla Jihlava and LHK Jestrabi Prostejov in the third league, helping the latter to win promotion to the second. He also spent some time in Switzerland with Kussnacht am Rigi, Luzern Lakers and HC Thurgau in the Swiss second division.

Last year saw him move to Naprzod Janow in Poland where he played 34 games, scoring 19 goals and 18 assists and picked up 60 penalty minutes.

The last two years have been the best in his career and he is now looking to continue his good form with his new club in England.
