Catch-up with Neil - (taken from his programme article - Sunday 30th October )

Monday, 7th November 2016

Good evening everybody,

A bit of a feedback sandwich for you tonight. You know the one, good news, bad news and always finish on good news. My dad always taught me never to end on a negative as it lasts all week.  So here goes.

What a fantastic atmosphere at the seaside last Sunday as we finally got the monkey off our back, winning our first home game. The lads worked so hard to keep on top of a plucky Bees side. The victory wave had been left in the locker room far too long and it was great to see the new boys take to the spirit of the wave.

On to Wednesday’s game in Hull. Tony and I have always had great pride in the levels of performance and entertainment of Phoenix teams. Well, I am sorry to say we fell short of both at Hull. We had a good turn out of the faithful and the performance and result was disappointing. I know Tony will have worked hard in training to sort out the problems and we have a chance to put it right when we face the same opposition tonight. I won’t dwell on this as the squad have performed miracles this season when desperately short benched and I am sure they, themselves will want to rectify the situation.

As I said at the top of the page, finish off on good news. Those who were at Hull saw young Lewis Baldwin get his first goal in Phoenix colours and believe me it was a highlight goal. Unfortunately his dad was talking at the time and missed it. I hope Hull TV has it on their game highlights as it definitely is one to remember.

Off ice, nothing more to tell you at the moment other than I expect something from the council very soon and we can get on with building our rink.

Enjoy the game tonight folks
