Catch up with Neil - (taken from his programme article - Sunday 4th December )

Monday, 5th December 2016

Well it has been a difficult couple of weeks off the ice in trying to finalise returning home to Manchester. Most of you will have read in the press the demise of the new Speedway Stadium resulting in the management team being evicted after not being able to meet the rental payments.

This was a flagship partnership with MCC and is very disturbing and disappointing for all concerned. Unfortunately, this has been going on behind the scenes for months and had caused the council a lot of distress. The model that signed the Phoenix off is the same model that has signed the Speedway off too. A review of the due diligence and testing procedure has had to be revisited to try and ensure that this unfortunate situation does not reoccur.

This journey has been very difficult for Tony and I with neither of us expecting to have had lasted in Blackpool this long. We are sorry for not being able to deliver the venue any sooner but there are so many boxes to tick as well as you don’t know what else can happen in the market place around you.

I am determined to give this project one last big push to get us home. I don’t think I have worked so hard and given so much up as I have in the last 3 years. Like you I believe it will all be worth it in the end for us to have a permanent home back in the City of Manchester.

Thank you to all of you that have carried on supporting this organisation through all the tough times. I hope that you are all still with us when we once again are back home competing at the top level like we have for many, many years.
