www.icehockeyleague.tv launches online Ice Hockey Streaming service

Monday, 4th September 2006

Ice Media Productions is proud to announce the launch of its new video streaming subscription service, through their web site www.icehockeyleague.tv. The site will stream approx. 30 EIHL games, ENPL action, 40 AHL games, 40 CHL games, and 40 ECHL games to subscribers over the season.

All the teams in the Elite League and most from the ENPL have pledged their support to the site. The service currently costs £75.00 per year or £8.50 per month.

Ice Media Productions produced 24 games of Ice Hockey for NASN last year, as well as the Elite and ENPL Playoff weekends and have grown hugely in that time. Heath Rhodes from IMP said ‘Ice Hockey has to be more accessible in order to grow its audience and understanding of the game. Having produced the sport for TV we realised that into the future the internet would offer the most accessible route. The UK audience want to watch Ice Hockey on TV but unfortunately TV just don’t see the sport as viable to its overall viewers - they are in some cases happy to display the odd game but are simply not interested in investing money to make better quality viewing of the sport like the Canadians and some Europeans do. We feel this subscription package offers excellent content for the price and we have worked in conjunction with a tier 1 delivery company to ensure the streams are of the optimum quality.’

www.icehockeyleague.tv launched the service on August 15th and subscribers have been keen to take advantage of the special price. Currently the service has all the programmes from last season’s NASN broadcasts plus the playoffs from the Elite and ENPL as well coverage of the NHL Stars for Hope from Nottingham earlier in the year.

‘We have published our Elite Schedule of filming for the first month and are awaiting the other leagues schedules. Obviously the AHL, CHL, and ECHL will start later in October but subscribers will get Elite 2006-07 season action from September 10th this will progress to 4-5 games of Ice Hockey per week by the start of November.’

From Friday September 8th www.icehockeyleague.tv will also be producing a FREE short magazine style programme called powerplay+. The show is sponsored by Powerplay Magazine and will be fronted by no other than Dave Simms and is estimated to be around 10 minutes in duration. The programme will show clips from the subscription channel as well as news and views on what’s happening in UK Ice Hockey. Fans can see the show by simply logging onto the www.icehockeyleague.tv every Friday.
