Friday, 5th October 2007

Five of the six Manchester Phoenix teams are in ice hockey action this coming weekend, with only the Under-16 B team not icing.

The Under-14s' will look to get their first win of the season on Saturday when they travel to Telford, while the Under-16 A team are also on the road with a visit to Flintshire on Saturday before a tough trip to Sheffield on Sunday.

The Under-18 squad will look to maintain their 100% winning start when they too take to the road on Saturday to play Grimsby on the East Coast, while the Phoenix ENL team have north-eastern opposition in both their games this weekend. On Saturday, Whitley Bay visit the Silver Blades Ice Dome in Altrincham and then on Sunday the ENL squad will travel to Teesside to take on Billingham.

The senior Manchester Phoenix team will look to continue their good start in the Challenge Cup when they travel to the Newcastle Vipers on Saturday, before returning to bmibaby Elite League action on Sunday in the Ice Dome when they host top-of-the-table Coventry Blaze in a 5.30pm face-off.

Phoenix have already beaten Newcastle in the league this season and will hope to continue their good form from last season against the Geordie outfit. Last Sunday, Phoenix became the first side in the bmibaby Elite League to take a point off Coventry in their own building when they took a point from a regulation time 2-2 draw before losing in sudden death overtime.
