Swindon Wildcats 4 - Manchester Phoenix 2

J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix went down 4-2 in Swindon after a promising start to the game.

Phoenix took the lead on 11.23 with a goal from Martin Cingel, assisted by Juraj Faith and Tony Hand. The lead did not last long as Swindon equalised 2 minutes later with a slapshot from Jaroslav Cesky. Shots on goal were 14-3 in Phoenix’s favour but the score remained 1-1.

Swindon took the initiative in the second period and goals from James Knight and Michal Pinc took the score to 3-1 to the home side after 40 minutes.

Juraj Faith reduced the arrears with 6 minutes left, assisted by Martin Cingel and Tony Hand. Phoenix pulled Stephen Fone for the extra outskater but an empty net goal by Cesky with 1 second left ended the scoring at 4-2.

Man of the match awards went to Luke Boothroyd for Phoenix and Shane Moore for the Wildcats.

Phoenix will be hoping to bounce back against Bracknell at the Dome on Sunday, face off 17.30.
