It's the final game of the season for Trafford Metros this Saturday at the Ice Dome, so come and cheer the lads on - it's your last chance! Mets may already be glued into fifth place in the league, but the team will be keen to finish the season with a flourish against visitors, Coventry Blaze. This campaign's encounters against the midlanders have run with home advantage, a statistic we'd like to see continue. Mets ran out 4 - 2 victors back in November at the Ice Dome, while the two intervening away fixtures went the way of Blaze. The chance for us to tie the series and reach a season total of thirty points will be motivation enough to ensure a grandstand finish. Mets will be without D man Max Drakeley while Coventry defenceman, Ashton Jenion, also misses the game. For the home side, Si Mills is still out with a long term injury, but there are whispers that Jake Nurse may make it to the bench for this final showdown.
This campaign has seen a hugely improved showing by Metros. Compared against last season the team have doubled their tally of victories, scored thirty more goals, conceded seventeen fewer and racked up 12 more league points. And that's with Saturday's game still to be played. If we'd been told we'd finish above both Sheffield and Nottingham at the start of the season we'd have felt flattered. So do come along for your last National League 'fix'. Give the team a great send-off before we start planning for late August when it starts all over again. Doors open at 4.30pm for a 5.15 face off.
