Wrap up to 2010-2011

Its Saturday Morning, nearly a week ago I was sat in the sunshine about to battle the lightning with a very tired and battered squad of players who probably should of all been on their way home as they had already done more than I could of asked of them. But like all great sports people they will always turn up and compete when asked. For me on reflection what a team even when tired and beat they come back and nearly bring the roof off in the last two minutes, moments like that don’t come very often in sport.

So may I take the opportunity to pay my respect and thank the squad of The Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey team for 2010/2011... one word guys…AWESOME. We had some of the best moment’s I have had in hockey since I got involved in this lunacy well over a decade ago…thank you and if you only remember one thing from Manchester then make it the wonderful people that come rain or shine turn up every Sunday and make your day, you are all so lucky that Songs Of Praise is not on at the same time any more.

Before I finally close the book on the 2010/ 2011 season, respect to my partner in crime Sir Tony Hand MBE without you the journey would just never of been the same, I could never of made it this far without you my friend...

Oh and lastly you lot, you make me cry, you make me smile, but most importantly you make me proud to be a Mancunian. Thank you for everything this season you have been great, better than great I just don’t have a dictionary at Hand, whoops.

I am very seriously thinking of writing a book about this journey, what a story and the characters I have met on the way well they will probably fill the book... You are the best, even those of you that are no longer with us…you are truly, good fun, great people...

So are you all going to be in my next chapter I certainly hope so bring your friends, your friends friends, even bring your mother in law you are welcome. So come and get aboard again next September for what could be the ride of your life.

I will keep you all updated in the e-zine that will now go monthly in the offseason and of course Phoenix TV that is you are very good will probably go out Bi-weekly just so you can have your fix to see you through the summer, the programme will now go out on a Tuesday evening at about 18.30.
