Phoenix photographers appear on BBC Radio Manchester

Saturday, 5th January 2013

On Friday January 4th 2013, two of the Phoenix's photographers appeared as guests in the studio of Ian Cheeseman at BBC Radio Manchester on the Manchester Sports show, to talk about minority sport in the Manchester area.  Lauren Freeman and Richard Allan were invited to appear in a discussion about the appeal of ice hockey, along with representatives of local basketball and cycling.

Appearing between 8pm and 9pm, Lauren and Richard were taking part in a segment of the four-hour weekly broadcast that looks at sport in the local area, and had the opportunity to promote ice hockey and the Phoenix to the listeners across the region.

"Being on the show was a great experience," said Richard. "Not only did we get the chance to give the Phoenix a boost, but also to listen to the views of people who are involved in sport on a similar level to ours."

Lauren was also pleased with the opportunity to talk on the airwaves.  "It's good to get more publicity for minority sporting teams like Phoenix,"  Lauren enthused. "If you can dispel a few myths and stereotypes, it might change a few people's minds and they might come along to a game or two."
