Phoenix report "Ton-Up" response already to Season Ticket initiatives...

Thursday, 3rd April 2008

Manchester Phoenix officials are reporting advance season ticket sales for 2008-09 are already well into three figures.

A Phoenix spokesperson commented, "the team may have been eliminated from the playoffs last Sunday, but the fans are showing tremendous support for the club for next season by taking up the Early-Bird Offer we put together. Orders for season tickets have already passed the one hundred mark and that's a tremendous start to the close season for the club."

The spokesperson continued, "And another massive boost is that as of Wednesday, over a quarter of the applications received are from supporters who haven't previously purchased a season ticket. The spread of the Phoenix supporter base just keeps on growing too. Already, we've got season ticket applications from surrounding towns like Blackburn, Preston, Stoke, Warrington and Wigan as well as areas a lot closer to the Ice Dome in Altrincham... and if the current rate of applications is sustained, we'll easily beat our total for last season."

Friday night sees the bmibaby Elite League stage the inaugural Man of Ice Awards with Phoenix stars Joe Tallari and Brett Clouthier, together with player coach Tony Hand included in the list of nominations. Clouthier is amongst the favourites to win the Hard as Ice award for the toughest player in the league whilst the evergreen Hand has been short-listed for the Best British Player award. Tallari, who finished his debut season in the UK with 55 goals, has been nominated for three awards including Forward, Player and Newcomer of the Year.
