The Manchester Phoenix are delighted to have signed promising left winger Marc Lovell for the upcoming ice hockey season. Lovell becomes the fourth player from the North West region to agree terms with the club.

Twenty-one year old Marc from Chester played last season in the English Premier League with the Telford Wild Foxes where he registered a very creditable 15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points in 35 appearances. Now he is looking to step up in the Elite League and stake a claim for a regular place on the Phoenix roster. “I’m very pleased to have been selected and am looking forward to training with more experienced players and learning from both them and Rick. Knowing the other local lads is good as in training, we gee each other up about making the team when the season begins.”

Marc took up hockey as a youngster and progressed through the junior levels of the Deeside Junior Ice Hockey Club from under-10’s right through to under 19’s, and as a 17-year old, he represented England at U-19 level against Scotland

Head coach of the Manchester Phoenix, Rick Brebant commented, “Marc is a big lad and someone I am looking forward to working with to bring the best out of. He has good size and I think we can get a lot out of him in terms of using that size and his natural strength.” With four local players now signed and more to come, Brebant added, “The competition for places amongst them will help them all improve their game as they strive to make the team.”
