Phoenix announce changes to game-day ticket prices

Thursday, 10th July 2008

The ever-spiralling cost of energy in the shape of fuel and utility charges have meant a re-think on ticket prices for Manchester Phoenix home games.

A club spokesperson commented, "When we first launched our Season Ticket drive for 2008-09 back in April, we were delighted to be able to freeze the prices and use this as a basis to help keep the Early Bird packages not only in line with last season, but in some cases actually reduce them. We already had plans in the 'think tank' for other different ticketing initiatives, and we've launched those already."

Phoenix have already introduced specific Three-Game Ticket packages tailored to each visiting team in the bmibaby Elite League, and more recently have announced Flexi-Ticket packages with 4-game, 7-game and 10-game options, again applicable to bmibaby Elite League fixtures.

Unfortunately, the soaring cost of fuel and utilities has had to be accounted for and Phoenix have been wrestling with the issue for some weeks.

The spokesperson continued, "We've had to do a lot of thinking as we did not want to have to re-visit every ticket option, and we kept coming back to one course of action - to only increase the price of tickets purchased solely on the day of the game."

"The benefit though to all supporters, both Phoenix and those of visiting fans, is that the ticket packages we've already launched will not be affected at all. The increases in ticket prices will only be applicable to tickets purchased on the day of the game, not pre-purchased on-line, through the office, through the Box office at the Ice Dome or by way of any of our ticket packages."

The increase to Game-Day Ticket purchases only will see tickets priced as follows...

Adult - £16.95
Concession - £10.95
Children - £5.95
Family Ticket - £33.95 (Two adults and two children)

Phoenix GM Andy Costigan commented, "In real terms therefore, the action we took in introducing the various ticket packages on top of the Early Bird Season Ticket prices will mean an even bigger saving for everyone that buys their Phoenix game tickets in advance... and the decision we took to keep the Early Bird Season Ticket prices available till the end of July means that supporters still have the opportunity to get a Season Ticket at the best possible price."

Costigan continued adding, “Hopefully supporters will understand the situation we’ve had to deal with. In terms of inflation and cost of living increases, and when you consider certain other areas of the retail price index, all the various packages we’ve introduced have truly lessened if not negated the impact of Game-Day increases. We were pretty staggered when we considered the options that according to research undertaken by the Daily Telegraph, the past 12 months has seen prices increase as follows... 31% for food; 30% for fuel; 19% for electricity; and 18% for gas. Those are everyday items, we’ve managed to restrict our price increase purely to Game-Day Ticket purchases.”
