The Tigers are coming to town

Thursday, 8th March 2012

J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix take on the Telford Tigers in a Saturday night showdown at the Dome, face off 19.00hrs.

The Tigers may be bottom of the league but for some reason they always seem to raise their game against Phoenix. With a clutch of fine young British players, and a good coach in Tom Watkins, they have not always got as much as they have deserved in games this season.

Telford have shipped a lot of goals this season but their offence is ticking along nicely with British forwards Scott McKenzie and Joe Henry scoring 37 goals between them. McKenzie, the 25 year old Scots-born forward has plenty of experience, having iced 7 seasons in the EPL for Romford, Chelmsford and Slough before heading to Telford via the Edinburgh Capitals. Scott iced in 2009-10 for the Edinburgh Capitals, starting 56 times, returning 6 goals and 11 assists. In Telford for his second season, he partners Joe Henry and Luke Brittle on the first line.

Phoenix will, as always, pay Telford every respect due, but will be looking to extend their impressive home winning streak to 12 games.

We all had our fun night on Thursday, now it is back to business and league points. Come on down to the Dome and cheer on Manchester’s fastest and most exciting sports team, Manchester Phoenix.
