Phoenix out to spook the Bees

Wednesday, 24th October 2012

J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix take on the Bracknell Bees in the Hallowe’en match on Sunday with the usual 17.30 face off.

Phoenix are turning the Dome into a bit of a fortress this season, albeit giving their fans heart attacks before securing the points.

Bracknell have not had the best of times at the Dome since Phoenix joined the EPL but they are on a bit of a roll at the moment, having won their last 3 games, the last of which was a resounding 8-1 thumping of the Steeldogs.

Coach Gareth Cox has changed a few things this season to make the Bees more competitive and give them a realistic chance of making the play offs this season.

Ex Phoenix d man Carl Graham has left for the Bison with Rick Skene (Guildford) and Alex Barker (Jets) also moving on. Ollie Bronniman arrived from Bison. Sam Oakford and free scoring defender Marcel Petran have also made the short journey to the Hive from Basingstoke.

Up front the very experienced Lukas Smital and Martin Masa will have to be watched if Phoenix are to maintain their winning home run. With Petran and the impressive Jan Bendik scoring regularly from the blue line, there are definitely goals in this year’s Bracknell side. The Bees are also a fairly physical side and Andy McKinney may be called upon again to keep things honest.

Phoenix are playing well with great team spirit helping to keep them at the top of the table.
Sunday’s game will be another tough examination of Phoenix’s obvious championship potential.

Come on down to the Dome, there will be no dunking for apples, but you will see Manchester’s fastest and most exciting sports team, Manchester Phoenix. Be loud and proud and shout your favourites on to another victory in their quest to regain the Championship.

Don’t forget to put your clocks back and have an extra hour in bed before you head for Altrincham.
