Phoenix scorers: Flaten, McKinney x 2, Pozivil, Wood, Psurny and Schnabel

A good start by Phoenix went by the boards as Slough Jets scored on their first two meaningful attacks. Phoenix almost took the lead on 2.26 with a snapshot from Robert Schnabel was well saved by Rockman. Sniper Darius Pliskauskas put the Jets in front as the Phoenix defence opened up, allowing him a free shot to beat Stephen Fone. Defender Mindy Kieras made it 2-0 on 7.20 giving the home side an unlikely two goal advantage. Jets then dominated the next 5 minutes of the period, bringing out two excellent saves from Fone. Phoenix hit back against the run of play as the first line of Flaten, Hand and Psurny combined for the big number 8 to make it 2-1. A great pass out of defence from Robert Schnabel found Andy McKinney racing down the left wing and scoring with a blistering shot past Rockman. 2-2 on 17.52.

Jets took the lead in controversial circumstances just 35 seconds later. Phoenix were called for icing after clearly tipping the puck into the corner and making a line change. A late call for icing after the change meant an icing infraction penalty that was converted quickly by Aaron Connolly for 3-2. End of the first and Jets just shading it 3-2.

The second period started with Schnabel and Wales going to the box after a slight disagreement behind the Jets' goal. Jets regained their two goal advantage on 23.17 with Luke Boothroyd in the box on a holding call. Bakrlik scored, assisted by Koulikov and Pliskauskas. Phoenix got themselves back in the game once more with a blistering shot from the blue line by Ondrej Pozivil. Assists went to Scott McKenzie and James Archer. Phoenix then had their best spell of the match, pinning Slough in their own defensive zone. However they are fast on the breakout and made it 5-3 on 37.54. Valecko found Davies on the right wing who beat Schnabel to the puck and found Bakrlik free to score the home side's fifth goal. End of two periods , Slough with the edge but Phoenix playing well.

Phoenix came out hard in the third period and pulled a goal back on 41.56 with Ben Wood scored, assisted by Richard Bentham and AndyMcKinney. The Phoenix faithful were up on their feet 4 minutes later when Michal Psurny equalised with assists going to Tony Hand and Joachim Flaten. Phoenix were on top by this stage as Jets appeared to tire and took the lead for the first time with ten minutes left on the clock. Josh Bruce was in the box on a tripping penalty as Robert Schnabel hit the net. Assists on this goal went to Tony Hand and Michal Psurny. The win was secured with 1.20 left as Andy McKinney completed a man of the match performance with Phoenix's 7th goal, assisted by Robert Schnabel.

A great road win for Phoenix which keeps them top of the league. Phoenix take on Bracknell Bees on Sunday at the Dome with the usual 17.30 face off.
