The Dogs are back in town

Thursday, 1st November 2012

J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix take on the Sheffield Steeldogs at the Dome on Sunday with the usual 17.30hrs face off.

The Steeldogs have been struggling lately and have dropped to 9th place in the league. They have lost 4 games in a row and cannot seem to find their scoring touch from earlier in the season. Greg Wood is the club’s top scorer with 12 goals from 12 games but top import Derek Campbell seems to be concentrating more on the physical side of his game with 73 penalty minutes but only 3 goals.

Phoenix had a free-scoring weekend last time out with 14 goals in their two games and the lines are gelling well and hungry for more. The third line is on fire with Andy McKinney playing his best hockey for the club. The second are working their socks off without getting the rewards they deserve and the Flaten/Hand/Psurny line looks one of the most dangerous in the league.

However, the Steeldogs can never be taken lightly and Phoenix will have to be on the ball to ensure they continue their excellent home form with a win.

Coach Hand said of the up-coming game against their fierce rivals: “As always this will be a tough game. Steeldogs always bring their A game to us and we will treat the game as any other. They are a physical side, but we have shown this season that we will not be pushed around and I am looking to the lads to continue our good form and reward the fans with the points.”

Phoenix may have loaned the Steeldogs the War of the Roses trophy but will be looking for a second league/cup win against them and all but ensure qualification for the cup semi finals.

This is definitely a game you do not want to miss. Get down to the Dome and shout loud and proud for your Manchester Phoenix and send the Dogs whimpering back over the hills
