Bolton University partner the search for new British talent

Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Club are proud to announce that Bolton University will continue as the club’s educational partner for another year. Bolton University will continue to offer the club’s players bursaries for some of their courses, allowing players to continue to play while developing

Since 2008 a number of players have benefited from the opportunity, helping the club attract top talent from the UK and abroad. Manchester Phoenix Owner Neil Morris is proud that Bolton University is now home to premier teaching and research activity, including flagship health and sports courses and services which are open to everyone. These include an Athlete Development Centre, Sports and Spinal Injury Clinic, climbing wall, Centre for Research and Health and Wellbeing, and a Clinical Simulation suite.

Bolton University offer a variety of courses and have consistently been awarded the highest possible ratings from the Government’s quality control agency and have professional accreditation for more than 30 their programmes. 

Ben Wood, Defenceman for Manchester Phoenix is currently the third and final year of his course at Bolton and believes the opportunity has been invaluable. He said:

“It’s really beneficial for me to continue my academic studies at Bolton University while playing at the 2013/14 EPL champion Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Club.”

Once again this year Manchester Phoenix will be looking for the best young British talent who are interested in playing for the league champions whilst being given the opportunity to develop their academic skills.
