Fans urged to put their shirt on The Phoenix

Tuesday, 28th July 2015

Phoenix fans have been urged to turn out in force for Friday night’s shirt launch at the Mercure Hotel in Manchester city centre.

It’s time for The Faithful to come together as one with players and management of Manchester's best-supported ice hockey club.

The event, which gets underway at 7.30pm, will give supporters the chance to see next season's shirt designs for the first time.

Phoenix owner, Neil Morris, and Head Coach, Tony Hand, will be giving a full update on how next season’s team is shaping up - and the new building.

The pair have overseen the club’s move to Deeside for next season, are delighted with the final shirt design.

Mr Morris said: “Our supporters were keen to get involved in creating this year’s shirt and they’ve produced an absolute cracker."

“Hundreds of fans responded to our online survey and sent in suggestions. Some of those suggestions have been incorporated into a really great design.

“It is something of a tradition that Phoenix shirt launches are a big event and this will be no different. The supporters are in for a real treat, and I want to see as many as possible attend.”

The Phoenix have commissioned a special patch to celebrate 15 years of The Faithful supporting this club. It will be unveiled on the night, for all the fans to wear throughout the 2015/2016 season.

The last month has seen Manchester sign a string of promising players, including Trent Hope, Phil Spanswick and Gareth O’Flaherty.

That transfer policy has also brought NHL draft pick Stanislav Gron to the club – and both Morris & Hand are hoping to release even more firepower on the league at the event.

He added: “Tony has once again done a fantastic job in terms of recruiting, and he’s got some great players coming in. Some of the guys who have already signed will be at the shirt launch to answer questions.

“Stanislav Gron is a great capture for us, and is just a taster of what’s to come during the rest of the summer. We are going to have a squad that will surprise a lot of teams."

The Supporters Club will be in attendance, to take on board new members, which for the first time ever will use smart cards for identification. This will help with the logistics and special offers next season.

Seating plans for Deeside and all the coach journey plans will also be available on the night, along with season ticket applications and player sponsorship.

Morris added: “Don't tell anybody, but Craig is having a big clear-out at the shop. There will be some mega bargains to be had, as well as few new goodies for the forthcoming season.

“I have said before that this club is on a brand-new journey, and Friday’s shirt launch is another exciting step towards our next goal. Our supporters deserve a great building to play out of in Manchester and we are going to give it to them.”

The shirt launch, on July 31st, is free to attend.
