End of Season Awards

Friday, 25th March 2016

Last night, we held our annual End of Season Awards at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester and it’s safe to say everyone had a fantastic evening.

Amanda from the Phoenix Supporters Club opened the ceremony by thanking everyone for their support during what’s been a tough season, before our hosts for the evening, Phoenix TV duo, Jake and Anna took to the stage.

The awards kicked off with Team Captain, Luke Boothroyd picking up Defenceman of the Year while #66 Rockin’ Robin Kovar was named Forward of the Year.

This year’s Best all Rounder was scooped up by Ben Wood shortly before Birthday boy Ben Russell proudly accepted the award for Unsung Hero of the Year.

We moved on to some more light hearted awards next with Trent Hope being crowned Juice Boy of the Year and Martin Baranek walking away with the award for Worst Fashion Sense, an award well deserved when he happily donned the jacket he was given with his award.

This year’s Bambi on Ice award, renamed last night by Ben Wood to the Ben Wood award, was won by Gareth O’Flaherty who wasn’t able to make the event.

James Archer took home Best Tweeter, Mark Thomas was deservedly named Most Entertaining Player on an Away Trip just before James Neil won the award for Gym Bunny. Neil Morris was given the Waffler Award but we made sure to keep the mic well away from him when he accepted.

Our final awards of the night were our Players of Year awards with Michal Satek and Jacob Corson-Heron picking two awards each. Michal was named Fan’s Player of the Year and Supporters Club Player of the Year. Player’s Player of the Year and the Coach’s Player of the Year awards went to Jacob Corson-Heron.

Check out the rest of the photos on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

If you’ve got any photos from the evening, tag us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, we’d love to see them and don’t forget, the first leg of the play-off quarter finals is tomorrow at Deeside Ice Rink with a 3.30pm face-off.
