Catch-up with Neil - (taken from his programme article - Sunday 23rd October )

Once again I will start my notes with huge thank you. I may be owner or director or whatever people want to call me but just like the words in the song…” Everything I do I do it for you”. Naff sounding yep but that is what you the fans mean to me and why I will not let this project go until we are in Manchester.

Tony Hand first, best decision I have ever made was inviting him to be my coach. The work that man is putting in is unbelievable, most of it out of the public eye on a team that is constantly on the road. Some people have no idea just what that takes out of the team in so many ways. Just like it does on the fans. I know he will get it right and will somehow nurture the guys to entertain us and, as he truly believes, get us to the play offs. The league has grown in depth and strength once again and has made things harder to get the right blend of players for the job in hand (no pun intended). Add to that the split in accommodation, the travel for half the team for training and the extra miles for away games. It all takes its toll and the guys and Tony have responded magnificently. Results have been hard to come by but their efforts have not gone unnoticed by the fans. So, Tony and the team, thanks from my heart.

Now to you who turn up every week even after not seeing a home win yet. That is true support and dedication. I mean everybody, both at the rink and in the Bierkeller every week. Also to those who stream the game to their homes.  Every effort is gratefully received and hopefully those who cannot make it to the Bierkeller or to the rink will be knocking on the door of the Manchester rink soon.

Must mention our loyal sponsors Millington, J Davidson, WG&R, Comtec Live and a myriad of associate sponsors. Without you people we would not survive. It just shows what sport can do. It is because of such a joint effort by everybody I have mentioned that I have stayed the course and WILL get you all back home soon.

Talking of efforts, wasn’t it just great for Manchester to be chosen to honour our Olympians and Paralympians? What a superb collection of the Best of British on show in our town.  Makes you proud doesn’t it? Keep with us people we are coming to the end of a long journey and the reward just around the corner is worth waiting for
