Bees edge tight game

Sunday, 6th November 2016

The Bracknell Bees fought hard to register a 3-2 home win over the Manchester Phoenix on Saturday night.

Phoenix outshot the hosts 17-8 in the first two period but two quick goals put the Bees in control.  David Gaborcik fired home the opener at 7:11 before Olegs Lascencko set up Luka Basic at 9:31 to make it 2-0.  Phoenix responded, creating a series of chances, and deservedly pulled a goal back on the powerplay at 16:12 as Robin Kovar found Roman Malinik in space, before finishing well.

The second period was goalless but still featured a host of chances at either end, as this time it was the home side who created the majority of the chances, but Steve Fone was in good form to keep it a one goal game.

The crucial third goal arrived for Bracknell at 47:36 as Gaborcik found Josh Smith to net, but Phoenix’s response was swift as Kovar tipped in an Edgars Bebris shot at 49:15.  However, despite pulling Fone, Phoenix were unable to level.

Phoenix are at home tonight against the Peterborough Phantoms, with a 5pm face-off in Blackpool.
